Zonked? Zzzz- Just Sleep Over It Super Mummy

Zonked? As a mother, I am sure you are tired and exhausted on many days. And then you open your social media accounts and you wonder how the other moms can be so awesome. They work, do so many activities with their kids and manage the house as well. I am amazed by how their kids even sit for so long because my Little Miss A has the concentration span of a goldfish. And in the present times of the lockdown, the pressure on moms has increased tremendously. The fathers are working equally hard but this post is for a mom, from a mom. I have a lot of respect for the fathers of the new generation especially, but as I said I am writing this for my super moms.

Issues of a Mom

For all those who have read my posts in the Blogchatter A to Z, I have spoken about 25 aspects of the first four years of parenting. Parenting is not rocket science and it naturally comes to us, but the problem comes in when we stop trusting our maternal instincts when we start comparing our kids to the others and we forget they are unique. In your parenting journey, you will come across many issues. And trust me, you are not the only one. Each mother has issues, some talk about them and some do not.

In my case, it went from having a pre-term baby to breastfeeding issues, my decision to co-sleep to the time I did not send her to pre-school until she turned 2.5 years. Yesterday, on one of the mom groups on Facebook someone asked about when to potty train the baby and 90% of the comments said at 6 months. I am sure when they read my comment of 3 years, they thought I need help.

Stress and Anxiety are a Part and Parcel of Parenting

Not everyone will support all your decisions and also you will not be right always. You cannot be this perfect mom because there is nothing like a perfect mom. We all have our flaws and your child loves you the way you are. Children grow and so do their tantrums and anxiety levels. They reach the stage of terrible twos or as I would call them the terrific twos. You will lose your temper and they will get on your nerves. You need to figure out how you will handle the situation and what works best for you.

There is No Formula

Parenting does not come with a formula. Sadly, one size does not fit all. Kids will need to be disciplined and you will have to handle their anxiety also. Each child reacts in different ways and only a mom knows how to handle them. You will get a lot of unsolicited advice but it is important for your mental sanity that you filter it and use what suits your parenting style. Children do not come with a manual because a mother is supposed to know them, understand them and manage them. With time and experience, you will know what your child wants when they do not even say it. That is the selfless love of a mother. Enjoy your journey with them, spend quality time and record your memories.

Always remember you are doing a fantastic job super mummy.

“There will be times when you feel like you have failed. But in the eyes, heart and mind of your child-you are a Super Mom”

Thank You to the Community

As I end the last post of my first A to Z challenge, I have to thank my blogging community for the love and support. First and foremost, I have to thank the Blogchatter Team. You guys rock!!

In the last month, I have read some amazing posts and made awesome friends for life. It is incredible how I have never met them, but I can easily message any one of them and share my issues and talk.

My friend, Noor’s A to Z’s at www.nooranandchawla.com were about things to do in the lockdown and beating the lockdown blues. All her suggestions were fantastic, but reading her posts was my best way to beat the blues. Thank you, Noor. You know I love your content.

Another set of heartfelt and positive posts have been by my friend, Roma (https://www.trulyyoursroma.com/). Her letters to her grandchild about COVID-19 and the life lessons she wants to teach them are a must read for all parents and children. It takes to be a very sorted and amazing human being to write those posts. I learnt a lot from them too.

Surbhi (https://surbhiprapanna.com/) and Harjeet Ji (https://wordsmithkaur.com/) have shared healthy, easy and yummy recipes. I am not fond of cooking at all, but their posts inspire me to get into the kitchen and try my hand at it. I hope I will soon and if I do half a decent job, it will be all thanks to you both.

Archana (https://www.archusblog.com/), has written on my favorite subject, Bollywood. Some memorable characters and movies which do need special mention. I will miss your posts my dear friend.

I have to thank Sonia (https://soniasmusings.com/) for my daily dose of laughter. She has recommended the best stand-up comedians in her A to Z journey and I have seen some of them on weekends, and trust me, they have been the best stress buster.

Thank you, Jyoti (https://myviewsandreviews.in/) for the virtual tours in times when we are unsure when we will travel next and to Sundeep (http://www.rightpurchasing.com/) for helping us with tips to monetize the blogs. Simrit (https://suburbanspecial.blogspot.com/) and Kinshoo (http://www.momlearningwithbaby.com/) have given us some great activity ideas for kids.

The positive and inspiring posts by Swarnali (https://thelifeandlightblog.com/) are a must read for all to be happier and find their inner voice.

Debidutta (https://womb2cradlenbeyond.com/) wrote on infertility and has written some very useful content for mothers struggling with this. I have been there and I know what a mother feels. Kudos to her to relive that painful journey to help others and spreading positivity.

Last, but not the least, my favorite posts have been by Baby A. Shubhra(http://natkhatz.com/) thanks for giving words to her thoughts. Undoubtedly, the most adorable posts of the season.

I can go on and on, but I think I should stop now. Thanks to all my fellow bloggers for the amazing content you have written. Even if I have not mentioned you, you all have been wonderful. I have come this far just because of your support and encouragement. I would love to hear your honest feedback on my posts.

Do share if you liked my posts and which one was your favorite one.

Secondly, thanks so so so much for the shoutout Arushi!!
You know I absolutely love your content too and it’s because our parenting styles are incredibly similar- as are our political and cultural inclinations.
I was made fun of by fellow parents in my son’s pre-school because he was not potty-trained even at 2.5. It felt bad for a bit but then I realised that it was just their way of making themselves feel better about some other issue troubling them.
All we can do is love our children and raise them with the values that mean the most to us. I’m glad to know I have at least one fellow mom and friend who is on a similar path as me.
Hope to meet you very very soon! Hugs!

successful completion of the A2Z challenge friend.

  14. Congratulations on completing AtoZ challenge. Parenting is not easy, First four years are challenged till the time you kids hit teenage.
People rush and take too much of stress on potty training, preschool etc. Kids get into grove automatically.

  15. True, there isn’t any standard formula when it comes to Parenting, its an experience. It does stress out, at times, more so when children are small, but then we need to work around our energies, take ample rest and indulge in self-love too.

  16. Such a lovely round up post Arushi and thanks a lot for the mention buddy. You know you will not realise but you too would have evolved so much as you wrote these 26 posts. Brilliant work my dear and all the best for your e-book

  17. Such a lovely round-up post, you have covered parenting beautifully. I was pretty lame in reading, the task of cooking up love stories was quite overwhelming. Nevertheless, I love reading posts here, will keep visiting. Congratulations on the completion of A2Z

  18. A lovely wrap up post for A to Z and great advice. Comparisons are rarely helpful in parenting or life in general. Important to remember everyone has their own timeline and path.
