A baby’s skin is extremely gentle and delicate and taking proper care is any mother’s primary concern. The soap we use for our babies needs to have no chemicals and harmful ingredients which can cause any damage to the baby’s skin. There are many domestic and imported brands available in the market and making a choice can get difficult. Here we are recommending some of the best options available. You must remember that each baby is different and so are their skins. What suits one might not suit the other. A few brands might have to be tried to be able to know what suits your baby the best.
Mother Sparsh Body Wash
Mother Sparsh Body Wash is one of my personal favorites, and I have tried several baby soaps and washes before choosing this.
It is made using natural ingredients and feels very gentle on the skin. It also creates a rich lather and has a pleasant fragrance.
One of the best things about this body wash is that it comes in a 100 ml bottle, making it extremely convenient to carry while travelling.
Overall, Mother Sparsh products are reliable and highly recommended.
Johnson’s Baby is a brand that is synonymous with baby care. Thus, it does not come as a surprise that the product makes it to the list of best baby soaps in the country. Thanks to our rich cultural heritage and ancestors, we know that milk acts as an amazing skin softener. Presence of milk makes Johnson’s Baby milk bath a great product to use. A dispenser at the top makes the otherwise difficult lives of mothers a wee bit better. The only point of concern for this product is the presence of SLS in small quantity. It acts as a cleansing agent and would not cause irritation in most babies. As a precaution, you should not use it on new born babies.
Sebamed is a well-known German brand famous for its premium baby-care range. Their Baby Cleansing Bar is a great option, especially for babies with sensitive skin.
This cleansing bar contains botanical ingredients that reduce the chances of irritation. It also has a pH value of 5.5, which helps maintain the natural protective layer of the baby’s skin.
It is free from:
-
Mineral oil
-
Fatty acids
-
Phthalates
-
TFMs (common in soap bars)
The low pH ensures the skin does not dry out after bathing.
Although Sebamed products are slightly expensive, the quality justifies the price. Personally, I prefer the cleansing bar over their body wash.
Himalaya Herbals Baby Bath
Himalaya Herbals Gentle Baby Bath is a great value-for-money option.
It is mild, gentle, and does not contain harsh ingredients that can irritate the baby’s skin. It leaves behind a light and pleasant fragrance.
Its gel texture makes it easy to apply and rinse off. Though it does not work as a shampoo, it performs very well as a baby wash.
Aveeno Baby Wash
Aveeno Baby Wash is a popular product that can be used as both a baby wash and shampoo, making it a convenient option.
Although it contains a few chemical ingredients, none of them are known to be carcinogenic. Aveeno claims that the product is:
-
Paraben-free
-
Phthalate-free
-
Tear-free
Despite the ingredients sounding chemical-based, it is actually quite mild and gentle on the baby’s skin and hair.
Chicco Body Wash
Another renowned brand when it comes to child care products is Chicco. Chicco has a price advantage over several other competitors, making them very affordable. This was the first body wash I used and I continued to use it for a few months before I tried the others. The Chicco Body wash primarily suits dry skin types for kids. However, you can use them for normal skin types as well. The body wash is gentle on skin and does not cause any irritation to the skin.
Dove Baby Bar contains several chemical components, but it is considered non-carcinogenic and is widely used by parents.
While skin irritation can happen with any soap, very few people have reported issues with this one.
This baby bar contains moisturizing cream that helps keep the baby’s skin soft and hydrated. It is also:
-
Paraben-free
-
Hypoallergenic
-
Mildly fragranced
It leaves the skin soft while maintaining natural moisture.
Libero baby Wash
Libero Baby Wash is a good option if you are looking for a product that works for both skin and hair.
It is paraben-free and has a mild fragrance that most parents and babies enjoy.
The texture is smooth and pleasant, and overall it gives a clean and refreshing feel.
If you are exploring baby washes, this is worth adding to your shortlist.
Mamaearth has now set a benchmark when it comes to using organic products. Madesafe.org has certified the Mamaearth baby wash to be clear of 8000 known chemicals. Pediatricians and dermatologists do not think twice before recommending this baby wash. If you want something for your little one that is safe to use, gentle on the skin and restore moisture, Mamaearth baby wash should be on the top of your list.
Palmer’s Baby Wash
Palmer as a brand is known to come up with premium products that eek high quality. Palmer’s baby wash can be a perfect companion during the harsh winters where your baby’s skin might dry up. Though you can use it for other skin types and seasons as well, it works like a charm on dry skin types. The price of Palmer’s baby wash is a bit on the higher side, but if you use it once, you will realize it is worth the amount.
Johnson’s Top to Toe
Johnson’s top to toe is one of the most dependable baby wash products available in the country right now. It suits perfectly for kids with sensitive and dry skin. You can use it as both shampoo and body wash, thereby requiring you to buy one less product. The dispenser available with it makes life easier for mothers. If you are someone who is reluctant to try out new products, Johnson’s top to toe can be your ideal partner.
