Feeding Bottles

Breastfeeding is undoubtedly the best thing when it comes to feeding your little one. However, sometimes due to medical reasons or due to inadequate supply or some other reason, a mother is not able to feed the baby. There is nothing to feel guilty about if you are not able to breastfeed. Remember, fed is best. Even if you are exclusively breastfeeding, there comes a stage when you might need to use bottles.

I had a pre-term baby and my supply was not enough and she was also not able to latch so we had to give formula to supplement the baby. Initially I did not use bottles and we used the Medela feeding cup but after two months we started using bottles. There are many feeding bottles available in India, and you need to see which one you look. Here are some of the best options available:

Dr. Brown’s

The feeding bottles manufactured by Dr. Brown’s has a patented no vacuum design. This addition helps in reducing colic in kids and prevents any fluids from entering the ear. The bottle and nipple stimulate breastfeeding by controlled flow thus removing any confusion for the young ones. There are four different levels of nipples available starting from 1 through 4. 1 being for the infants and 4 being for kids who are a bit aggressive while eating. The bottles come in two different packs of 120 ml and 240 ml. I have used these since we started using bottles, and I had no complains.Comotomo

The brand does a great job of simulating breastfeeding. Its mimic style ensures that kids do not get confused and there is low rejection rate of the bottles. Though the price is a tad on the higher side, its quality speaks for itself. The bottle has a wide mound and opening to resemble breasts and doubles up as easy to clean. The bottle has a couple of anti-colic vents which reduce colic due to better circulation. Comotomo has different nipple sizes to cater to different age groups. The icing on the top is the bottles are heat resistant.

Chicco

One of the major problems with most bottle feeding is your kid swallowing up air. Swallowed air results in colic, regurgitation and also hiccups. Feeding bottles made by Chicco are made up of polypropylene and are BPA free. The bottles come with anti-colic valves and are suitable for use by infants and older babies. Your little one might find the graphics on the bottle to be attractive as well.

Philips

Philips has done wonders with the Avent series and feeding bottles category is no different. It is one of the most sought-after feeding bottles in the country and quite rightly so. The bottles are BPA free, have anti-colic valves and are quite ergonomic. They come in various sizes as well, starting from 125 ml followed by 260 ml and finally 330 ml. The wide opening of the bottle makes it easier to clean as well.

Tommee Tippee

Feeding bottles by Tommee Tippee fit in perfectly if your little one is prone to gas, spit-up or is fussy. It has a unique valve and tube system that replicates breastfeeding. The sensitive system reduces air intake to a great extent. The nipples are designed in such a way so as to reduce any confusion for the little ones.Pigeon

The glass feeding bottle by Pigeon is one of the most economical options available at the current times. The bottle is made up of borosilicate glass and has two layers. Of course, being glass it is prone to damage on drops. But on the plus side, it is easier to clean and has much lower chances of stomach infection when compared to plastic bottles.

Medela

The ergonomically designed Medela feeding bottles can be used for feeding formula milk as well as breast milk. It has a special cap that helps to store breast milk hygienically and for a longer duration. The design of the nipples also reduces any confusion for the small ones. The bottle also has a relatively wider mouth, which makes it easier to clean as well.Playtex

The bottles by the brand Playtex are imported from the USA. It has a unique bend design at the neck. This provides almost upright feeding position and prevents any fluids from entering the ears. The bottle has an anti-colic bottom which prevents air from mixing with the milk. The bottles are also known to reduce any form of discomfort for kids during feeding phase.
